I got drinks with her at The Chophouse today. She picked me up from my place on her way back from work, I went in and checked out her apartment while she changed, then we walked over. I guess her roommates out of town this weekend. I wondered later if she wasn’t hoping I would make a move.
I said something during dinner that I felt was very profound, wanted to pull out my phone and type it down but didn’t want to be rude. I wish I knew what it was. Maybe I’ll remember it. It was short, only a few words, one line. It was sort of like something I had heard or said before but different in an important way.
In other news, we were talking about strange movies we love, I said Somewhere (2010), she said Almost Famous. We agreed nostalgia is the key for those movies. I explained that I first watched Somewhere in the old apartment, so it takes me back there. Plus, the old apartment might have been in Chateau Marmont if the furniture were nicer. She said, “Everything reminds you of something.” I tried hard to contain a knowing smile. That’s it, “Everything reminds you of something.” But what was it that I said?
